About the Programme:
R&D Commercialisation is the missing link in creating innovative Entrepreneurship in Malaysia. While many successful Western companies were created out of University and Research labs by Academics, Researchers and Post Graduate Students, including Google, Microsoft and Genentech, the same success has been elusive in Asia, more so in Malaysia. This is not because we lack the talent or R&D proficiency, but mostly because Researchers have not been provided with the necessary skill sets on taking their R&D from labs to markets.
The late Prof. Peter Drucker in his book 'Innovation and Entrepreneurship' said:
"Entrepreneurship is 'risky' mainly because so few of the so-called entrepreneurs know what they are doing. They lack the methodology. They violate elementary and well-known rules. This is particularly true of high-tech entrepreneurs"
By learning the correct methodologies for Commercialisation and increasing their entrepreneurship knowledge and skills, the potential for success increases significantly for all participants. This program is unique as it explores models of commercialisation using case examples and introduces a new model for commercialisation and provides participants with all the elements necessary for successful market driven venture creation.
Objectives of the Programme:
- To provide participants with the requisite knowledge and skills to create market driven ventures
- To highlight key methodologies that can be used by participants to reduce the element of risk within their ventures and thereby enhance the chances of success.

Testimonials for 'R&D Commercialisation and Market Driven Entrepreneurship' Workshop conducted on 11-12 March 2009 in Kuala Lumpur.
"I really enjoyed your workshop - overall I have knowledge enrichment especially the different models/approach towards commercialisation. Indeed the workshop has enlightened my understanding and teaching in technology entrepreneurship."
Datin Assoc. Prof. Norela Nuruddin
Director, Malaysian Entrepreneurship Development Centre (MEDEC), UiTM
"I have attended many workshops on commercialisation - and I must say yours is one of the best so far. Because you talk from experience, from having walked the talk, the impression we get is you do know what you are talking about. If we can learn from your mistakes, we don't have to repeat them. Mistakes can be costly and sets you back in terms of the time too. And your experience is something that we all can relate to because it is based on the Malaysian scenario."
Pn. Mariatini Othman, Vice President,
Government-Industry Technology Services, MTDC
"I would like to thank you for your energetic and very useful tips in your presentation. As I'm new in this line, I have learned a lot, especially on Entrepreneurship. I have learned how to integrate the commercialisation/market and our working environment. Hence, it can be practiced in our Innovation and Commercialisation division. We're in the process of justifying our own commercialisation model and I can use your Technology Commercialisation model to adapt to our model."
