Research Activities
The Materials Science and Engineering group is actively engaged in various aspects of materials science and its applications. Some of the areas of research are in biopolymers, ceramics, electronic materials design, deformation behaviors and computational techniques.
The group is also active in developing software applications in elasticity / plasticity problems for engineers engaged in various industries such as metal forming, forging and new materials development.
Research Project
Development of PC based comprehensive engineering software, XpertFORGING, for forging process design
XpertFORGING is developed on the basis of surveyed result feedback by the skilled engineers of some top foreign manufactures in forging industry regarding the demand of developing engineering software. The software is specially tailored in helping CAD works by providing a complete set of tools like strength calculation, finite element simulation, material data bank and design rules/guides which required for establishing a series of process design. It will serve as a platform to link CAE with CAD ultimately on PC in our future development.
