| Facilities & Accommodation, Biotechnology & Computer Laboratories |
|
 |
MUST currently has five fully equiped laboratories (each of 1000 square feet). The Biotechnology Laboratories provide expertise and facilities for studies in molecular biology, Genomics, Plant biotechnology and Proteomics.
It includes equipment and capabilities in microscopy (transmitted and reflected light, epifluorescence, auto scan, photomicroscopy), protein/enzyme purification and characterization, protein patterning, genetic analysis, gas and liquid chromatography, microbial characterization and identification, image analysis, biodegradation & biodeterioration analysis, and microbiological monitoring. |

| Computer Laboratories |
The university is equipped with latest computers for students' general use. These are located in the library and Multimedia Learning Laboratory. Both general applications and course-specific software are installed in these computers. The students can also view the videos of MIT lectures from these computers. Headphones are made available to them for this purpose.
High-end workstations and computers installed with additional specialized software are also installed in the IT laboratory, the Transportation and Logistics laboratory and the Biotechnology laboratories.

 |
Apart from the computers located in the various laboratories, laptops are also available for loan from the library. These can be used in the library on in other areas within the university. |
|
| computing facility |
The University's computing facility is managed and supported by the Information Systems Department (ISD). This section describes some of the key features of MUST's ICT infrastructure. For a more comprehensive description, please visit the ISD Web Portal: http://isd.must.edu.my.
The MUST campus is fully networked using the latest network technology to provide high-bandwidth links for data transfer and video streaming within the campus. It is connected to the Internet with a 2 megabits per second (Mbps) leased line giving high-speed access to the Internet for students and staff at anytime. |

Learning Management System |
| |
MUSTCLE or MUSTLMS is a web-based learning management system developed at MIT and is being used to support teaching and learning at MIT. MUSTCLE or MUSTLMS is now made available to MUST and is being used to deliver course materials in MUST.
The course materials for the various programmes in MUST are provided by the MIT faculty and these are directly uploaded to MUSTCLE or MUSTLMS which are then made available to the MUST students.
For online interaction among students and faculty, forums can be set up using MUSTCLE or MUSTLMS. The online homework management feature allows students to submit homework electronically and instructors can return grades and comments in a secure environment.
Students are also able to view videos of lectures conducted at MIT which are recorded and digitized and made available in MUSTCLE or MUSTLMS. |
| • |
Wireless network |
| |
A wireless network has been set up serving the library and the adjacent areas. This allows students to connect to the network without been restricted to locations where hardwired connections are available. They can use the university's laptops or their own laptops anywhere which is convenient in the areas served by the wireless network. |
| • |
Video Conferencing |
| |
Video conferencing equipment with high quality video and sound are available to facilitate communication between MUST and external institutions or organizations. In particular, the equipment is used regularly for academic, research and administrative collaboration between MUST and MIT. |

Other services |
| |
All MUST students are provided with MUST email addresses to facilitate communication with faculty and staff and among themselves. Students are provided with 50MB of storage space on the server to facilitate their academic and research work.
CD writers are also available on numerous computers to allow convenient backup of their data.
LCD projectors and laptops are available for use in all the lecture rooms and these are used by the faculty to conduct lectures effectively.
All of the above mentioned services are provided and managed by the Information Systems Department (ISD). For more information on these and other services provided by the Information Systems Department, please visit the ISD Web site at |
