- What are the programmes available at MUST, its duration and fee structure?
MUST offers a number of Postgraduate Programmes (MSc and PhD degrees). Additionally, beginning July 2008, MUST has also introduced Foundation and Undergraduate Programmes.
Masters of Science (MSc) Programmes
- Information and Technology
- Transportation and Logistics
- Biotechnology
- Materials Science and Engineering
- Construction Engineering and Management
- Energy and Environment
- Systems Engineering and Management
All the above MSc programmes require a minimum of 3 semesters (18 months) of full-time study i.e. 2 semesters for coursework and 1 semester for research.
The course fee is RM 10,000 per semester. ( Total cost fee for the whole 3 semesters is RM30,000 )
In the event of any extension of studies, the fourth and subsequent semesters will be based on per course basis at RM2,500.00 per course/thesis
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programmes
In addition to the above MSc programmes, MUST offers two doctorate programmes (PhD) during its January and July 2008 intakes.
The PhD programmes being offered are:
- PhD in Biotechnology
- PhD in Transportation and Logistics
- PhD in Informatics
The above PhD programmes involve both coursework and research with a minimum of 6 semesters (3 years) and a maximum of 12 semesters (6 years) of full-time study.
The course fee is RM 10,000 per semester for the first three semesters and RM 2,500 per semester for the subsequent semesters. (Total cost fee for the whole of 6 semesters is RM37,500)
Foundation Programmes
In addition to Postgraduate Programmes, MUST also offers a Foundation Programme (effective July 2008 Intake)
- Foundation in General Sciences (KP/JPS(KA9071)/05/13)
The above Foundation programmes requires a minimum of 3 semesters (1 year) of full-time study.
The tuition fee is RM 4,000 per semester. (Total tuition fees for the entire programme, i.e. for 3 semesters, is RM 12,000)
In the event of any extension of studies, additional tuition fees would be charged for the fourth and subsequent semesters at the rate of RM 1000.00 per course taken to complete the programme.

Bachelors of Science (BSc) Programmes
MUST would be launching a number of Undergradute Programmes in December 2008. Please inquire with the Registrar Office for more information on this.

- What are the entry requirements for admission to MUST's academic programmes?
- For the MSc programmes: a minimum of a Second Upper Class Honours degree or CGPA of 3.0 (on a 4 point scale) in a relevant field from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.
- For the PhD programmes: an MSc degree in a relevant field from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.
- For the Foundation programme: Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with 5 credits including English, Mathematics and 2 Science subjects or equivalent;
- Proficiency in the English language.
Applicants with a slightly lower qualification but with relevant working experience will also be considered. For details please refer to admissions.

- How many credit hours are required in order to obtain the MSc degree?
The minimum degree requirement for the MSc programmes are 6-9 courses distributed as follows:

- What are the requirements for getting a PhD degree at MUST?
Generally, it requires the following:
- successful completion of at least 6 doctoral-level courses
- successful completion of a General Examination comprising both written and oral
- submission and approval of a PhD thesis research proposal
- undertaking of original research
- submission, in the form of dissertation, and defense of original research

Yes, at present MUST offers financial aid in the form of an interest-free loan to its Malaysian students, applicable only to the Postgraduate Programmes. However it is subject to fulfilling the terms and conditions set by the university.
