Brochure

We have developed a unique graduate programme in the Department of Biotechnology, based on providing our students with expertise from upstream research all the way to downstream processing. Our programme is designed for students with diverse academic and research interests.

Students entering the programme can come from any discipline but must be prepared to undergo rigorous training at MUST to acquire the necessary skills in biology, computing and bioprocessing technology. Through the course, our students will obtain a strong foundation in the principles of modern biology, biotechnology and biochemical engineering giving them exposure to contemporary thinking in a wide variety of specific fields. Our graduate students will become directly involved in many of the significant research projects of the Department and go on to become leaders in their fields, both in academic and industrial settings.

Graduate students have the opportunity to participate in many areas of research which include: biochemistry, bioinformatics, cancer biology, cell biology, developmental biology, human genetics, genetics, immunology, microbiology, molecular medicine, plant molecular biology, biochemical engineering, cell culture technology, fermentation, biosensing and biotechnology commercialization. Often, the research projects of any one laboratory involve more than one of these categories.

The MSc courses offered have been hand picked from the curriculum at MIT to provide a wholesome Biotechnology curriculum.
