MTL 703 Modeling and Simulation Techniques for Transport Systems
Instructor: TBA
Modelling and Simulation Techniques for Transport Systems introduces students to basic modeling techniques and in depth coverage of simulation modeling techniques in order to model the complex transportation networks/systems. Through various applications and case studies, the course covers two major topics: General modeling principles used in transport arena and details of simulation modeling concepts and techniques. As part of general modeling coverage, we consider: System conceptualization, System modeling approaches, Various Transport systems, Modelling of transport systems. As part of detailed simuiation techniques coverage, we consider: Concepts of Simulation, Types of simulation, Random numbers, Random observations, Traffic system and simulation, System representation in simulation, car-following models, Lane changing models, Simulation model mechanisms, Time advancing techniques, list processing, Developing a valid simulation model, Calibration and validation techniques, Case studies with simulation model, Mixed and lane based traffic study with simulation.
