MBT502 Basic Biology of Biotechnology

This course is designed to provide graduate students who come from engineering and physical science backgrounds with training in biochemistry and molecular biology for biotechnology.

The lectures will include background on principles of biology including DNA structure, replication, mechanisms of DNA mutagenesis, transcription, and translation that are relevant to biotechnology. The focus of these lectures will be application of biochemistry and molecular biology to recombinant DNA technology and strategies for metabolic engineering of prokaryotic systems.
